That only works for the lit side of the moon. The dark side still stays dark.
I have used that command in Sky Tonight presentations.
Got it working.
Saw the part about modifying the configTemplate.py file, but missed the part about saving it as config.py. My bad.
Followed the instructions as far as I can tell, but no custom module was generated.
Thanks.
Is there any way to specify arriving at an object viewing the side that is lit? Sometimes you arrive at an object on the dark side and it is too dark to be seen.
I have profiles that start at bookmarks for Earth and they work just fine, that is why I thought it would work for Mars.
Yes, that works, but I have to keep clicking the "skip ahead one time step button" to get the planets to move. Is there any way to put it in motion and still keep the sky stationary?
What would also be cool is a why to lock onto an object like the Moon, a planet, or a comet and have it stay in one position on the dome. I understand that the camera/ viewer would then be traveling over the surface of the Earth, but it would be a good way to show Moon phase, the phases of Mercury and Venus, or a comet changing over time.
I have made changes to some of the b-v values in the speck files for my version of the DMNS stars. I combined the separate modules (All Stars, Red Stars, and Bright Stars) and found that several stars were being rendered more than once, some as many as three times.
Attached is the module I created from the original and a list of the stars that have adjusted b-v values. I got the values from Wikipedia and I know there are many more that need to be changed, but it is a start.
Dan:
Could you dumb that down for me?
I see the colorbv.cmap file and the denver_colorbv.cmap but there are four values in each entry. In the spec file the first value after the x, y, z position is the colorb_v, but it is only one value.
How do you go from four values to one and what is the range that the one value should stay within?
Paul
Sure, please send me the geotiff when you get a chance.
Is this something I would use QGIS to create the tileset? Is there a set of instructions for dummies?
Thanks.

Thank you Jawad. Your module helps a great deal.
I like that I can adjust the amount of shadow and not just simply turn it off.
