How to play a fulldome video from Uniview (when not using the Video Preparation tool)

Uniview supports video format: .mp4 (mpeg-4 codec)

And audio format: .wav

If you have the fulldome video and audio file that you want to play in Uniview, then you need to set up the .fdv file and copy the video files to all nodes.
  1. Create a folder inside <UserFolder>/Videos names say "myvideo" on the GUI node.
  2. Copy the .mp4 and .wav file in the folder.
  3. Make sure the .mp4 file name ends with "@domemaster.mp4". If it doesn't, please rename it to make sure it complies with this.
  4. Now copy the "myvideo" folder to all the cluster nodes in the <User Folder>/Videos. To do this easily you should have network sharing enabled on the "Uniview Shared Folder" configured by the Uniview Network Layer (UNL). Then on each machine go to the shared folder and navigate to the <UserFolder>/Videos folder and copy "myvideo" to it.
  5. Next you need to create an .fdv file such as myvideo.fdv file and place it in <UserFolder>/Playlist Items in the GUI computer.
  6. Edit the .fdv file you just created with these values (I am assuming that your video is called test@domemaster.mp4 and audio is called test.wav.
  7. [General]
    Video=myvideo/test@domemaster.mp4
    Audio=myvideo/test.wav
    Title=My Video
    Duration=1351.03333333333
    FrameRate=30
    AudioOffset=0.0
    BufferFrames=60

    Where the first two lines are path to the data files and are relative to the "<UserFolder>/Videos" directory.
    Duration is in seconds. Set it appropriately for your video. Frame Rate in this case is 30 Hz. Set it appropriately for your video. Leave the last options as is.
  8. Now you can add the .fdv file from Uniview from the Playlist tool.

I can only add the following types of files to the playlist:

.bookmark .surfacelocation .xtimeline .wfx .seq

How can i add .fdv files from the Playlist tool ?

Hi Thomas,

This could be a licensing issue. To be able to play FDV (fulldome video) you need to purchase a license that enables this. Could this be  the issue?

Best,

Urban

Hi Urban,

thank you for your quick response. I will check it.

We have tried this on our install, we can create the .fdv file and add it to the playlist, however when the video plays it is simply a green screen for the duration we have set. Any ideas?
