Please let me chip in here. The 1601 limit is only for the calendar widget itself, i.e. we're not able to show the month view for earlier dates. This is why this widget disappears when you specify an earlier date. The underlying system in Uniview works fine though, so all you need to do is specify the desired date and time using the six fields which are still active (Year, Month, Day, Hours, Mins, Secs) and press "Set" and the simulation time will be set to these values.

Currently that is not able to be done with the code. This is being looked at for 3.0.
However, you can easily make a custom event using the time.set command in the runtime syntax.
The entire list of time.set commands are listed under the runtime syntax command file under the Help dropdown in Uniview.
